On February 4, the Speaker of RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan received the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Armenia Rafik Mansour.

Welcoming the guest Ararat Mirzoyan has underlined that the United States is one of the important partners of Armenia and since the establishment of diplomatic relations the bilateral ties have dynamically developed on the basis of mutual respect and trust in numerous spheres.

According to the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Armenian Parliament is willing to further expand and deepen those relations.

Touching upon the activation of the legislators’ cooperation, mutual visits and exchange of experience the Speaker of the National Assembly expressed hope that the Friendship Group to be formed in the future in the newly elected parliament with its activity would give new impetus to the rapprochement of bilateral ties.

The Head of the legislative body highly assessed the support being shown by the U.S. while making reforms in different spheres.

Congratulating Ararat Mirzoyan on his unanimous election as Speaker of Parliament by the National Assembly, Rafik Mansour noted: “It is clear the Armenian people have high expectations for this parliament and I look forward to watching the members carry their mandate forward in 2019.”

Thanking for the congratulation, the Head of the Parliament underlined: “The democracy, the effective and transparent government, the guarantee and protection of human rights and freedom are the fundamental values for us, on which the activity of our power is anchored.”

The interlocutors referred to the development of democracy, the improvement of the legislative field, the steps to be taken in the fight against corruption and other issues of bilateral interest.
